When it comes to dancing, music is very important.

I will admit it. I love the belly dancing moves, but not the music.

Don’t get me wrong. I think belly dancing is amazing. I have watched some of the world’s best belly dancers onstage, and their art is captivating.

But I am not able to do it – both in terms of skill level as well as interest in the art form.

However, there are some moves I am able to do extremely well – shimmies, in particular. So I decided to start choreographing my own dances using shimmies to modern music. To my surprise, there were several people like me who seem to enjoy my choreography, and have encouraged me to create more.

And that’s how ShimmyFitz was born!
